About

The Vision

“The Dean’s Scholars Program aims to instill the values of a well rounded engineer among its members and reverberate those values throughout the entire McCormick community”

In today’s world, a successful engineer not only demonstrates a mastery over engineering skills but also possesses strong leadership skills, a sense of civic service and an ability to be creative and entrepreneurial. The Dean’s Scholars Program stresses on the four main cornerstones of Academic Excellence, Leadership, Innovation and Service to the Community; hoping to launch brilliant, well-rounded engineers into the world.

The Purpose

  • All McCormick students are expected to be all-round engineers ready to take on various challenges.
  • It is easier to first focus on a smaller, scholarly, enthusiastic group and introduce a culture of well roundedness through programs and initiatives.
  • We will instill the ‘cornerstone values’ in all Dean’s Scholar members and hope that our members will lead by example, thus resonating the cornerstones throughout McCormick.
  • Moreover, Dean’s Scholars can be called upon when McCormick is to be represented to industry, to prospective students, and to the administration should they need insightful feedback.
  • They will serve the McCormick community, and outside communities; in the process developing themselves.
  • Recruiting tool: an indicator of the success of this program will be seen through the yield percentage of accepted dean’s scholars. (Expected to increase with a more streamlined program).
